Fake Goldendoodle?!

so we got a puppy about a month and half ago and he was advertised as a F1B mini Goldendoodle. Meaning his mom is a Goldendoodle and dad is a poodle however we are having some doubts he is not getting that big . At 14 weeks he weighs 5.31 pounds . How big was y'all mini around 14 weeks any thoughts ? Could he maybe be something else ?! 3743363478?profile=RESIZE_710x

  • How big were you wanting him to be?  I would guess he will end up being around 15 lbs which would fall into the mini range.  Any liter can throw a range of sizes.  Unless the breeder knew his/her lines extremely well it would be very hard for them to know exactly what the weight range would be.

  • "Mini" doodles can range in size from 15 to 35 lbs. There are three sizes of Poodles, so it would depend on what size Poodles the 3 Poodle grandparents in an F1B are. If you have Toy Poodles in there, you can get a very small dog, especially if the one Golden Retriever grandparent is a smaller Golden.

  • I'm guessing the goldendoodle was a mini and the poodle was a toy... that could result in a very small F1B mini.

I think most doodle breeders who breed to a Toy poodle call them "toy" goldendoodles (or micro sometimes) though from what I've seen.

  • 3744026596?profile=RESIZE_930xthanks you so much guys ! Yes these is a picture of his parents and they had told us he would under 25

    • Dad looks very tiny, I'm not surprised your doodle is so small :)

    • The dad is a Toy Poodle. And it's possible that even the mother's sire was a Toy. She looks very small for an F1.

  • To give you an idea of what you can expect, my Miniature Poodle (the Minis are the middle size of the three Poodle sizes) weighed 8.4 lbs at 13 weeks, and 18.5 lbs on his first birthday.

    • Oh wow thanks ! Yea my Goldendoodle is going to be Tiny !

    • Haha, Riley was Jasper's 1 year weight at about 12 weeks old.  She's a big floof (72ish lbs now).

  • Your puppy is so cute! I just wanted to chime in with the others and say that he's going to be a tiny little guy. My mini was 12 pounds at 16 weeks and full grown she is 29. But there are just no guarantees. My standard puppy - 1/2 golden retriever and 1/2 standard poodle is right about 50 pounds and 22" at the shoulder. I really thought she would get bigger. I see people with these 80 pound doodles and I think someone forgot to tell Willow to grow. But it turned out I adore her size. She's compact. They're all special in their own way.
