  • I see them. He might be a little straighter than some of the curly doodles, but I think he will be shaggy and gorgeous.

    • Thank you so much! Yes, not expecting curly but hoping for shaggy, full :-)

  • Yes, he has lots of furnishings.

    • Thank you! I struggle with comparing him to those who have curly hair and not seeing it on him OR seeing pups with no furnishings and not seeing a difference on him. What specifically do you look at?

      • Well, let me turn that question around. Do you know what "furnishings" are?

        • I believe I do (eyebrow, in between forehead, mustache)? But I struggle in telling when they do/do when I compare him to those who don't!

          • Well, you have more than 30 years of collective experience with doodles here telling you that your puppy has lots of furnishings, and that they are very clear to us. I think you should trust us and stop comparing him to other puppies who may or may not have furnishings, or are curlier, or whatever. It doesn't really matter what someone else's puppy looks like. Yours is adorable and is definitely going to look like a goldendoodle, not a retriever. Relax and enjoy him.

            • Thank you so much! I very much appreciate it - we can't control how much he will shed but I'm hoping the furnishings help. My husband has allergies and we mistakenly thought the parents were tested first. I will relax :-)

              • The furnishings won't have anything to do with whether or not he sheds. There are a whole lot of very doodle-y looking shaggy goldendoodles with plenty of furnishings who do shed. Especially the F1s. And regardless of what kind of nonsense the breeders tell you about DNA testing, there is no test that can accurately predict shedding.
As for testing for furnishings or I/C as the doodle breeders call it, there is no need for that with F1s, IF you know for a fact that the parents are a purebred Poodle and a purebred Golden Retriever. That's because all Poodles have furnishings, and all Goldens do not. So there would be nothing to test the parents for on that score, IF the breeder really knows the parents' pedigrees and that there are no other breeds there.

My furnished F1 who shed like crazy 24/7, 365 days a year.
