Hey everyone,

We have been so busy we haven't had a chance to update yet. A week ago Theo brought home a little sister! A six month old German Shorthaired Pointer. They have had a blast and really love each other. Then a couple days ago Theo suddenly started limping after playing, closer inspection would be that he ripped off his dew claw, jammed the remaining nail into his foot, and broke his toe!! Ouch!! He has been having to have it wrapped and on some pain meds and an antibiotic, luckily little sister is very understanding and doesn't bother him too much.

We will keep you updated on our progress with heeling and incorporating a new sister into the routine.

  • Poor Theo, I hope his foot heals quickly!
I'm so glad he and his new sister are getting along so well. That's not always the case when a new pup comes into the household, so count your blessings!!!

    • I know, I was very hesitant about bringing in another dog. Luckily we had the chance to meet up a few times and do 2 over night visits before I brought her home to make sure it would hopefully be a good fit.

He's on Clindamycin for an antibiotic. Do you know anything about how good/bad this one is on the GI tract? I've already started him on proviable 2 hours apart from the antibiotic. Do you think that will be enough to keep his tummy good?

      • Yes, and kudos to you for knowing that, lol!
Be sure to continue the Proviable for a good 2 weeks (or more) after the antibiotics are discontinued.

  • Aw poor Theo!  So glad he is getting along with little sister though I'm sure he enjoys having a playmate.  We will get Riley a little sibling in a few years when my human baby grows up a little :p

  • I'm so sorry.  I hope he heals quickly.  Congrats on your new addition!

  • Just a small bump on the road to a wonderful friendship. So glad they are getting along so well and hope the toe heals soon and they can get back to romping.
