• Four months is a general rule of thumb. Around that age, many puppies growth slows down a bit and they will sometimes show you they are ready to switch to two meals a day by seeming less interested in their food, particularly the 2nd or 3rd meal. But that can vary widely from one dog to another. 
    Keep in mind that 4 months is just over 17 weeks, people have a tendency to think of it being 16 weeks. But again, this is all just a general guideline. Some puppies may be ready to switch earlier, others later.
