WELCOME TO THE FOOD GROUP - This group was started in an attempt to present well-researched and FACT-based information on the amazingly complicated and confusing issue of feeding our dogs. There are also many issues we would like to explore. We thought it would be helpful to put all of these questions, information, and feedback into one place here on DK where everyone can find it, contribute to it, ask questions, and learn together.
WE ASK THAT YOU NOT POST ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PRODUCTS FOR WHICH YOU RECEIVE ANY TYPE OF COMMISSION OR COMPENSATION. THANK YOU.
IMPORTANT-PLEASE READ "FOOD GROUP GUIDELINES" BEFORE STARTING A NEW DISCUSSION.

Well, there are a lot of good fish based foods among the brands that we do recommend. Just about every brand makes at least one fish based food.

It was a store clerk in the little boutique store that I buy my Acana in. Lily has been on Acana for six years and has never had a problem but I’m so concerned about them selling out to Purina that I want to do some research to see what else I can get for her.  Her vet suggested about six months ago to switch her from the duck to fish that it might be a cooler food for her allergies.  After all these years with good results I hate the fact that Champion may sell out.

Nature's Logic is not a recommended brand. I can;t imagine who would suggest it as a replacement for a top quality food like Acana; I suspect it was store clerk.
Why do you want to switch from Acana?

Has anyone used Nature Logic sardine kibble?   This food has been suggested to me to replace Acana Freshwater Fish for Lily Grace.  Several things initially bothered me. There is no fresh food in it, it is all meal and then it contains Porcine plasma.  I cannot understand why this would be necessary and how they would control the quality of it. I’d be interested to know what others think about product.

The Greenies Pill Pockets are full of wheat and corn. I'd avoid them.
JD took about 10 pills per day and I always used mashed sweet potatoes; not to hide them, but to help them go down easier and not get stuck at the back of his tongue.
Other "coatings" you can try are peanut butter, liverwurst (braunschweiger), or cream cheese.

Curious if greenies pill pockets are still okay to use. I’m currently just sticking pills in a little piece of sweet potato everyday. Looking for options.

I use them. I give a half to each dog in the evening do they do much good? I doubt it but the dogs love them. The rawhide is a ground up and hasn’t caused any problems.

Comment by Rosalyn Ancrum on February 14, 2019 at 11:27am

Lol,  yeah I guess this is  a grooming discussion.  However, my dog eats the chews  and the toothpaste like food!!

Comment by Ronna, Murphy & Wilson on February 14, 2019 at 11:05am

My vet recommends them ( because she sells them) but I do not use them because they are rawhide.

Quite a few people use CET products for their dogs' dental health. Here are the results from a search I did:
