  • Thank you so much for this information, Lori! It helps a lot.
At this point, do you know if Visbiome is available anywhere else besides through the manufacturer?

  • If it helps at all, I did a lot of research regarding VSL3 and Visbiome last year before the lawsuit went to trial. I was just looking to see if I could find a product that was a little less expensive than VSL3 for my Bob. :-) I compared the laboratory testing, species of bacteria, # of colony forming units, shipping practices, etc. and found them to be identical.

Bob takes Visbiome, and Winnie and Indie take Proviable for "maintenance." The box of Proviable (ordered from Chewy) that I got a month ago has an expiration date of 9/2020, and the extra bottle of Visbiome (ordered directly from the company) that I got 3 months ago has an expiration date of 2/2021.

Diarrhea is very high on my list of things that I DETEST dealing with! Lol And, since the results have been fantastic, I intend to keep all 3 dogs on probiotics for life!

  • That's what I have to look into, Nancy. I have to find info from an independent source telling me that Visbiome is the same as VSL#3. OR...I have to look at a package of Visbiome and compare it to the info on the VSL#3 bottle I still have.

  • My brain hurts reading this confusing stuff.  I read the first letter way back when but the other articles are new to me......

So ------what product do we ask for at CVS et al?   I still have some VSL#3 so don't currently have a need, but I know I'll need it again with my boys.

  • I would be so upset about this if JD were still with me. As it is, now I'm going to have to find accurate information on this Visbiome that doesn;t come from either of these warring former partners. :(

  • Thank you Karen.

VSL#3 has been Rebranded into Visbiome
VSL#3 is being sold under a new name Visbiome in the USA and Vivomixx in Europe. It is a high potency and very well clinically studied probiotic.
  • And more conflicting statements:

Note to Healthcare Professionals and Patients
Note to Healthcare Professionals and Patients Regarding the Recent Jury Verdict: Claudio De Simone et al v. VSL Pharmaceuticals, Inc. et al   Profess…
  • Hmmm...I'm finding conflicting info. The ex-business partner had sued them and apparently won. I'm seeing articles stating that the product is now sold as Visbiome and there is no more VSL#3:

But then there's this, from VSL#3:

What a shame, and a mess.

Has the probiotic VSL3 been changed or discontinued? Is Visbiome a good alternative?
Find out if the probiotic formula VSL#3 has been changed and is being sold, and how it compares with Visbiome, which is advertised as the "original"…
  • I haven't needed to buy it since Jack died, but I always got it at CVS.

Inflammatory matory Bowel Disease

Hi all....after a scare of bloat without torsion in May, my7 year old labradoodle Fazzy was diagnosed with IBD via biopsy.  He was doing OK once he got back to eating again until I thought it might be a good idea to switch to raw...didn't go well.  Switched him back to what he was on prior, Canidae kibble, variety of canned "flavors" as well as chicken breast, turkey breast, low fat hamburger...just depending on what we had on hand and cooked for the dogs.  I've never been able to get his…

Denamarin for elevated liver enzyme

Chloe is turning 10 years old in October.  I recently took her to the vet to check out some new masses on her flank and to see if there was a correlation with these masses and her increased water intake and occasional vomiting. Her 2 masses were lipomas ( needle aspiration) and the vet checked lab values. Although most of the values came back normal, her ALT was slightly elevated at 213 (nl 12-118) so vet recommended placing her on Denamarin.  She is also going to have an abdominal ultrasound…

Emergency stomach surgery and the after effects

It's me again. We are having the worst luck when it comes to our doodles this year. :( We lost Gracie who was only 4 in February to Hemangiosarcoma which appeared out of nowhere and hit us pretty hard. Now Jade who is 3.5 yrs is having issues. She was vomiting for hours early morning on Thurs and after getting a dose of cerrenia (She had gotten sick 2 weeks prior and we had some leftover), she was drooling excessively. The vet had us drop her off to observe, take tests, and xrays. She said it…

Fatty deposit

So Murphy has on his stomach some fatty deposit that the Vet has checked in the past and said no big deal he said. It has gotten bigger of late. It feels like a small balloon. Does not bother him when you squish it around. I'm going to bring him in for another checkup of it. I trust the vet but it doesn't hurt to ask here in the group if anyone has had any history with a similar situation. and if so what did you do about it. Thanks in advance.
