"But I'll tell you, Charlotte, I would not let my vet put me on the defensive. Rather than having to explain why I choose to continue feeding a grain-free diet, I would ask for any tangible proof that doing so is in any way harmful. The thing…"

Karen, Jasper and Jackdoodle replied to Alyssa and Theo's discussion Switching from Acana in the group The Food Group
"To date there have been fewer than 350 diagnosed cases of diet-related DCM. Out of 77 million pet dogs in this country. You do the math, lol. Better yet, ask your vet to do it.  With 70% of a diet being made up of animal proteins, and 7.5%…"

"I totally agree Karen!  It is definitely a continuation of the marketing ploy to promote the big box companies, who in fact support them.  The other reason I decided to give Fromm's new recipe a try is because my 4 year old dog, Ivy…"

Karen, Jasper and Jackdoodle replied to Alyssa and Theo's discussion Switching from Acana in the group The Food Group
"This is the first I've heard of a new recipe in the Four Star line. It looks pretty good; protein content is 27% which is higher than most of their healthy-grain formulas. So if you want to try it, there's no reason not to.  But the…"

Karen, Jasper and Jackdoodle replied to Alyssa and Theo's discussion Switching from Acana in the group The Food Group
"Not to me. Your dogs have a 1 in 220,000 chance of developing DCM from their diet. Which means that they have a better chance of getting just about any other disease out there.  Do you titer your dogs instead of vaccinating them? There is a…"

"Thanks, Karen. In addition to our vet, my sister-in-law (who is a breeder in Florida) suggested the same thing. She said to find a different food that uses oats and wheat, but not legumes. Does it make any sense to have my dogs' taurine levels…"

Proviable - DC vs Forte

Hi everyone,I was curious which version of proviable you all use and which is better for long term use and balance of the GI tract? He just went through a bout of diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours a couple days ago, nothing showed up on blood work or fecal. Luckily, my vet does not believe in treating diarrhea with Flagyl or other medication unless it is persistent, so that wont be a problem. Theo has been in this probiotic below for awhile but is not crazy about the taste and has to have it…See More
