"Hi there, mine is 6 1/2 months and I've noticed his behavior is changing a bit. He is more mouthy during playtime, and with his adult teeth, it can hurt (I can't imagine ignoring that). Since he was very little, if he started to nip, we…"
"I agree that they shouldn't be startled out of sleep. However, snapping/biting is not a sign of respect, nor is it a good form of communication with his owner. I would find another way to get him to bed (waking him with his nose-wave a treat…"
"My puppy also had a bad first cut a couple of weeks ago. I brought him in looking like a cute
Iittle shaggy labradoodle, and he came out looking like cute little brown bear cub :-(. They cut very little off of his body (this is what we agreed on),…"
"A little bit once in a while (2-3 times a month) shouldn't hurt. Without seeing the ingredients, I don't know what's in it other than sugar and yogurt. Yogurt is fine for dogs, but you don't really want to give them a lot of…"
Hi there, I just thought I'd ask if anyone has heard of anything negative about giving a dog a little vanilla frozen yogurt. One of my family's favorite summer rituals this summer is to walk with Chewy to our neighborhood frozen yogurt spot. I get him a small amount of vanilla frozen yogurt and he devours it in seconds. He's a very healthy puppy, and I just want to make sure we're not harming him by giving him this occasional special treat.
"Hi there, let me clarify, that when I said I didn't want him to get finicky, I meant I didn't want him to only prefer poultry (vs. meat, fish) as a protein, etc. The brand I had been feeding him since we got him is a poultry formula, and I…"
"Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll try playing with his toes a little more. I usually try to clip his nails while he's sitting on my lap on the floor-perhaps ill try a chair where it may be more difficult to escape. I'll also be…"
"Hi Leann, thanks for the advice. The vet told me last week that he still needs one more round of vaccines before grooming, so he goes back on the 20th. I will double check with her, because I always thought that by 16 weeks, pups are all clear.…"
"I haven't tried this yet. But I know I need to take this on. Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of bully stick and one foot at a time. Stella lets me brush and comb her and clip her face, but her feet are another…"
"Phoebe (Chewy's sister) does best for nail trims when she's exhausted and chewing on a bully stick or a stuffed Kong or something. I usually do one foot at a time...and then give her a break. Usually i can get at least 2 toes done before…"
"Play with his feet/toes a lot so he gets used to being touched on his feet. Some dogs are very sensitive on their feet. I don't know how big he is but I take Nimbus in my lap when I cut his nails. Good luck!"
We've been waiting patiently since we got Chewy in June until he was old enough to start going to a groomer to have his nails clipped . The vet says he needs to wait 2-3 more weeks until he can go to the groomer. In the meantime, we''ve been trying to clip his nails/or use the Dremel, and he has always put up a huge fight. We've never gotten through it in one sitting--it's always such a struggle (and he's generally a mild tempered puppy). We've tried giving constant treats, does not work. The…See More

"Hi Cindy, a few days ago I just started mixing a tiny amount of orijen puppy along with the Annamaet Salcha--things have gone well so far--in a couple of months I'll switch to Orijen completely as it is difficult to find Annamaet in stores…"
Aww, nice. Did you visit with your kids too? Did anyone have allergies? Now I am contemplating puppy health insurance -- there is so much to know about these pups! Michelle recommends trupanion but i am not sure yet to just go with that or others i have heard are good from friends. More money to spend, eh?
How exciting! And thank you so much for the feedback! I was sweating the fact that we would not be able to visit (we are in NJ) and am so glad to hear from you (and previous references) that she is a great breeder. I also love that she chooses the dogs for us based on bio vs. any first pick competition bologna! We also are so excited, especially my 12 yr old son, but it is good time to prepare everything. Guess we will meet on June 7ish but pls do keep in touch! :)
