"Thanks. I need to go over to The Vitamin Shoppe soon to buy more Fisol, so I'll see what type of Evening Primrose Oil they have. She is not very itchy and it is localized to one particular area. The natural aloe combined with Claritin and some…"
"There are also some topical steroids that help a lot if the itching is localized. But I got those from JD's dermatologist, the GP vets just don;t seem to have as much knowledge about these things. ResiKetochlor was one topical the specialist…"
"Well, as it turns out, I can check off everything as ALREADY DOING, except perhaps for wiping her feet and brushing her daily, and I have never given her evening primrose oil. I do use betamethasone valerate on the base of her tail when that seems…"
"Omega 3 fatty acids, specifically DHA & EPA which are found onloy in fish, and GLA, found in evening primrose oil, all help a lot with seasonal allergies, especially when used in conjunction with antihistamines. If I haven't posted…"
"Thanks for the link to that previous discussion. I did search for that (unsuccessfully) before I began yesterday's new thread. Charlotte's allergies do seem to be seasonal, so my gut is to avoid anything that would halt her immune…"
"Both Apoquel and Cytopoint went on the market with very little research behind them. One study on a small group of Beagles, in each case. Jack's dermatologist was always hesitant to use drugs with a lack of a long-term track record.I think…"
I'm in my early 50s and live in a Boston suburb with my husband and our labradoodles, Wally and Charlotte. I'm also the mom of two grown children. I worked as a writer and teacher before becoming lucky enough to retire early. I spend my time with my husband, friends, family, and my furry buddies. I also enjoy cooking, photography, knitting, reading and walking - we take a couple of good walks each day. That's me in a nutshell. Oh, and we're in Cape Cod during the summer and Naples, Florida, for the winter.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Wally is an Australian Labradoodle from Tegan Park in Florida. His birthday is May 21, 2006. His parents are Zimba and Paige. He is extremely friendly and loves everybody and every animal he meets! Charlotte is also an Australian Labradoodle, and is from Heartsong Labradoodles in Kentucky. She was born on June 7, 2012. Her parents are Mattie and Cole. So far, at 11 weeks of age, she's a dream and we love her to pieces! And equally important is that Wally likes her, too.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We enjoy going for long walks with friends, and spending time outside. Wally LOVES to play football in our backyard. We also enjoy hiking in the town forest and going to Elm Bank and the Weston Reservoir. Wally really likes to go swimming, especially at Crystal Lake in Orleans on the Cape. When Charlotte is a bit older, I hope to get her out in the world, just like her big brother.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I do regular brushing, and they go to the groomer every 6-8 weeks.
Do you have a website of your own? If so, share it here:
Yes, I can see from your photos that they are not curly. My ALD, however, is very curly and actually has a rather easy to maintain coat. I keep him cut short after an initial try at having dreads. His hair dreaded very well, but it is a pain to try to keep up. And conditioner is definitely out for us. Sometimes I groom him myself and other times I have the mobile groomer bathe and groom him.
Your Aussie Doods are simply gorgeous...and they look so incredibly sweet. Lucky you! HA! and of course, lucky them. Cute cute cute. A couple of my friends just got aussie's so I will get first hand info on how they fall in love with their babies.

Haha...yes. We get SPAMMERS now and then. If only these spammers would get a feel for their audience they'd realize most of us ARE women and would prefer to see a doodle in a bikini than them ;-) I ban these new members as soon as I see them or someone reports them. If you click on their photos all that will happen is you'll be taken to their DK profile page...
