Ivy has developed a chalazion on her upper eyelid.  I took her to the Vet who diagnosed it and gave her Topomycin drops and said to apply warm compresses 3 times a day.  Well the drops are no problem…Continue

Ivy's Histriocytoma Update

It finally happened!  As the Vet said, Ivy's hystiocytoma would ulcerate, it did and it was disgusting, then it dried up, also disgusting, then it was hanging off her eyelid, TOTALLY DISGUSTING, but I was able to get it to fall off using warm water and compresses.  So now she is left with a white patch and I'm wondering if it will go back to it's original skin color and no longer be visible.  I certainly hope she does not get another one!! See More

Update on Histiocytoma

Previously diagnosed as a chalazion, but after needle aspiration it was confirmed to be a histiocytoma.  Here it is approximately 8 weeks later.  It is beginning to ulcerate so I brought Ivy back to the vet today for a check.  Vet prescribed oral antibiotic Cefpodoxime, 1 tablet once a day with food and we are to continue with lubricating eye drops and Benedryl for the itching.  I was wondering if anyone was familiar with Cefpodoxime and how it is tolerated. Poor Ivy is hardly eating, pretty…See More

Hi Nancy,

I am trying to get in touch with you. Can you possibly accept my request? I wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding breeders. Thank you much!

Welcome! Be sure to read the link to DRC ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_ADOPTION_POLICIES_AND_PROCEDURES especially noting children’s age minimum.
The Adoption application form is at the top of the page.
Check the DRC ADOPTABLE PETS on our home page. When you are looking at the Adoptable Pet pictures, notice that the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. While the DRC allows out of state applicants, they cannot transport the rescues and will not let them fly, so you need to be within driving distance of the foster.
Other suggestions to find a rescue doodle: click on the REGIONAL LISTINGS section http://doodlerescue.org/groups/doodlesinneedinnorthamerica ; and check PETFINDER (putting in all zip codes within driving distance); also GOOGLE in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Check back often.
pirate welcome to drc
