I live on our family farm of over 100 acres and we have a couple of dogs and horses. I am a Special education teacher in a local High school.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We just got our first Doodle and his name is Gnarls "Rigby" Barkely III. We have a rescue dog that is part Lab(Maggie) and a mini Australian Shepherd (Callie). I have a registered Paint horse named "Te" with a white face and blue eyes and a beautiful black pony(with blue eyes) named "Meg" that keeps him company. Also have a few barn cats!
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I liked the personality and friendliness of a Doodle. Also the low to non-shed coat is a plus!
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
I would like to teach my Doodle to find Deer Sheds, travel with us and just enjoy the woods when we take walks etc.

I got the Best compliment today on Rigby!

Posted on June 21, 2013 at 12:17pm 10 Comments

Rigby and I went to Tractor supply today he behaved pretty well, much better than in the past. Not that he was ever bad, just not leash trained and loves people way too much. Then we went to Lowes and he was a perfect angel! He must have gotten the excitement out at TSC. He sat nicely. Layed down when I was looking at items and told him to wait. He waited for many minutes, walked along well with me. So anyway the compliment one man gave me while we were in there was, "he behaves better than my… Continue

Don't take your Doodle shopping unless you have double the time to do so!

So tonight we had just enough time to run into Lowe's... took Rigby with us...Never go to any store with your Doodle if you have "just enough time to run in quick"! LOL. We were 5-10 min. late for our other appt. If it wasn't Rigby stopping every Tom, Dick, and Harry for attention, it was someone else stopping me to pet him and ask what type of dog he was.

Yuck! Rigby

I've never written a Blog post so here it goes!

Lately Rigby has been finding lots of yucky(dead) things to play with! He's brought home a dead mole/mouse, bird, and a frog! All in the last week! Actually, the mole was still half alive. I think our barn cats have a conspiracy against him and leave them for Rigby to find! Their worlds changed a little since Rigby came home. They probably think he'll get into trouble and be banished! He's oblivious and thinks he's going to cuddle with… Continue

Hi Stephanie, my doodle's dad is Julius and I can never remember the mom's name. She was a medium sized dog with white fur. My Dempsey is a little under 80lbs. He'll be 3 this March. Great pup! Rugby is adorable!

Hi There,

Your lil Rigby is adorable!  My pup Bug is 7 weeks and also hasn't shown much of a doodle appearance.  I was wondering if Rigby sheds?  If so is it a lot?  Bug doesn't seem to leave hair around the house but if I hold him and cuddle him, I find it on my black clothes and such... just wondering... looking forward to all the surprises I have ahead of me... Any input or advice is welcome :)

Sorry for the long space between updates. Sophie is still doing about the same as Thursday when she came home. still eating and drinking normally but a little mopey. I think that is from all the medication. She goes to the vet tomorrow to have checkup blood work to see if her platelets are back to normal. Once I get the results from that I will put out another update on where we need to go from there.

I absolutely love the soft crate for the bedroom.  I already have a metal crate that was used by Max.  I agree that the top opening would be ideal for air ventilation and keeping him cool.  I am hoping that my Doodle is "not destructive", you really got lucky on that one.  I know that puppies can be a hand full the first few months but it sounds like Rigby is pure joy.  LOL, so funny that he got caught while trying to chow down on the treat stash--smart Doodle.  Can't wait to hear more stories about Mr. Rigby and to see more pics.  :)

Thanks for the friend request and the information about the crate cover.  I like the idea of having a soft crate for the bedroom.

I apologize for the double post--my first one disappeared for some unknown reason, so I re-typed it, only to find that it the first one had posted on your wall.  I am not the best with computers :)

I enjoyed watching all of Rigby's photos today.  They are really helping me pass the time until I get my own pup--June 23rd!!!  I love the crate cover on Rigby's crate.  I hope you don't mind me asking, "Where did you get it and was it super expensive?" I've read that covering the crate makes them more comfortable during crate training.  Have you found this to be true?
