Profile Information

About Me:
My husband and I are retired elementary school teachers in Southern California. We enjoy being empty nesters, but lucky enough to have our children and grandchildren living near enough that we see them often.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Our cream, apricot doodles were born on Saint Patrick's Day, 2008. One is a large mini apricot Australian Labradoodle that we named Ned, and the other is a medium apricot/cream doodle named Clancy. Our youngest doodle, Charlie, is our chocolate/white parti boy. He was born in November of 2013.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder, Rescue, Rehome
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We had two dogs and weren't looking for another, but we met a small Labradoodle when we were camping and fell in love. We immediately went on the internet and learned as much as we could about doodles and ended up with a smaller sized Australian Labradoodle that we picked because he just charmed us with his personality and antics.
Clancy had been rescued from a kill shelter where he was labeled dog-aggressive. I am so grateful that someone recognized that Clancy was afraid, not aggressive. Ned and I met him at the pet adoption center fund-raiser where he was being nicely walked through the crowd (this so-called aggressive boy around a a bunch of kids and other dogs!), and I was in love again.
Charlie is our youngest boy. He was a re-home through the DRC. He had been in three homes where no one cared enough about him to recognize and appreciate how wonderful he is and work with his challenges. He is a sweetheart who needed the right furever family and that is ours! We are so lucky to have our boys.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
They fit into our family well and we enjoy including them in our activities. I also enjoy taking pictures of them.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Yes!, Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
We have them groomed locally by a wonderful gal at Creature Comforts.
Favorite Doodle Products?
Ned especially loves stuffies. Clancy loves toys - anything you give him, but he destroys EVERYTHING with stuffing. He could be an Olympic gold medalist in the art of toy destruction. Charlie is our snuggler extraordinaire!

Nancy:  Thank you!  I will do that.  We've always doted on him, when we lost his littermate/sister, he got a little depressed, so we have been watching that, as well.  I think knowing is better, as well.  We are giving him the royal treatment, as he deserves.  Thank you for  your kind words!

So happy to hear that he got adopted! We weren’t able to make this romp but hoping to in the future. Chloe LOVES all doodles. She spots them from miles away so she’ll be in heaven!

Wow...you seem to have the luck of the doodle-catchers !  I have been looking for another doodle since my precious Tucker doodle died last August and always seem to be a day late!

I'm hoping to find a young male labradoodle - any color - of medium size.  If anyone knows of one looking for a great loving furever home with a single lady who has lots of time to love and romp with a new buddy, pleeeeeeeze  let me know!!!!!

Thanks again Nancy. We did attend one Romp when Hank was about 8 months old & I remember seeing Josie...so cute! Since then we’ve really gotten into hiking. Hank comes with me when dogs are allowed on trails. He’s currently helping me train to hike the SoCal 6 Pack Of Peaks & possibly Mt Whitney. We already have a hike that day, so we won’t be able to attend. Have fun at the night Romp. We have attended an OC Doodle Romp as they are closer to us than Seal Beach...very fun & have met quite a few pups we follow on Instagram. Hank is @hank2tank. Thanks again for reaching out. Hank has a lot of people who love him.

Thanks Nancy!  Not sure if we can go. We usually get some awkward looks as Hank doesn't look very doodley.  Not sure if we'll attend one again?  We love Hank too, just the way he is.

I agree it makes me mad that some people cant see past "the look" and love their puppy as is. Always makes me wonder about their human children. We don't always get what we want! Pippa has such a wonderful personality, I wouldn't trade her for any number of fluffy Doodles! And to be honest, she gets more attention when we go out because she doesn't look like the others. Everyone always wants to know "what kind of dog is that one?"

Hey, Nancy, happy new year 2019.  It is right around the corner and I am in Texas for my nephew's 50th birthday on New Year's Eve.  Hope your holidays are filled with joy.

A scrunchie! Great idea. I've thought of clothespinning her ears up, but obviously that would be unkind. But a scrunchie could work. In all the years with papillons I never had a single ear infection. Big ears that stand up just don't have the same issues as long floppy ears.
