I woke up this morning all by myself. It was even daylight. Miracle. I feel like a new person. When my DH told me it was "only" 5:50 AM I was delighted!
Frankie was going through a bark to go out and then want to eat and play several times in the middle of the night/early like 4am early tirades for about the last week, maybe more. We took turns going downstairs and letting him out, but then he would not want to go back upstairs, looking to eat at 4 am. When he did go upstairs,…Continue
My DH was at the local beach yesterday with Quincy. They came home and he was puttering around for an hour or so. Then he came into the kitchen and handed me a note with a name and telephone number. "We met a retired couple who want to re-home their doodle. He's too much for them." DH told me he sat there at his computer debating on whether to tell me. LOL.
So guess who came for a sleep over! He'a an 8 month old F1 who has a gentle doodle personalty with the typical…Continue
We took Quincy for his first Agility Class! I figured he would love it since he can scale a fence from a standing position and amused himself all winter jumping over the huge snow mounds at the top of our driveway. The back of the house was completely walled off with snow mounds, and I was wondering how he was getting to the front drive-then I saw his leap over and realized he was not scrambling up and over, he was flying up and over!
So, off to indoor class we went. My DH is a…Continue
Today is Quincy's second birthday. He has, from the beginning, firmly planted himself in our hearts and our home. Quincy gives us joy every single day. The two year mark also means he is officially no longer a puppy! There are things I will miss, others, not so much. Most recently, he has earned free roam of the downstairs when we leave for work with no naughtiness (at least not yet!). Happily, we will disassemble the huge monster crate that resides in the LR this weekend. He loves…Continue
New Years Eve! To celebrate, DH ordered some nice big fat lobsters and picked up four of them from our local fish monger. Quincy went with him to pick them up and buy other special treats but DH was smart enough not to leave Q in the car alone with the goodies (he learns from past mistakes).
We enjoyed the a few hors d'oeuvres with our cocktails. Nice fire, great evening.
Then it came time to cook the lobsters. DH went into the garage…Continue
DH volunteered to pick up Quincy from Day Camp today, that was nice. He is nice and on the way home he stopped and bought the ingredients for a special dinner from our fish monger- bronzini!
nice fish, mild, mellow, but very boney. Well, he hates bones in his fish so the selling point is our fish mongers are very adept at de-boning. Of course this time consuming talent raises the cost of an already pricey fish, but well worth the price. He was going to surprise me,…Continue
We have been slowly trying to wean Quincy out of the crate and leave him free roam as we also increase the time home alone. Well, up until yesterday we were fairly successful, (unless you count the Goldfish Saga in Oswego).
But I guess he is still, after all, only 13 months old and still has more puppy in him! What was so funny is that he ABSOLUTELY knew he was in hot water since he was in the crate when we open the door.
We have a small bedroom upstairs that I converted to a laundry room when we re-did our upstairs bath. I have always had visions of a clean, neat area to do laundry and iron clothes! No longer would I have to travel the two full flights down to the dungeon like basement, fight my way past cartons of Christmas, Halloween, and Easter decorations, not to mention old clothes,…Continue
He still has his puppiness - and still chews up stuffies, steals socks and drags in sticks from the yard, but he has grown up some too! His routines are set and he accepts the not so fun time willingly and with good grace. His energy at the dog park is boundless and he will do "sit pretty" for any audience as many times as asked as long as a treat is at hand. He bounces up onto our bed to lick me awake every morning as if it is the best morning ever! and he makes it so!
We are home again, safe and sound and Quincy is enjoying having my son home, too. We had quite the adventure with my good boy proving in the end, he is still a puppy!
He was sooo good on the nearly 8 hour car ride up, sitting high on his…Continue
I have to go to a Baby shower in a little while. Anyone else hate showers as much as me? Plus, I have to leave Quincy and the DH on the first warm day of spring to sit in a room with a bunch of women and ooh and aah about baby stuff when I would much rather be tossing around a ball or taking a walk with the boys. I thought about bringing Quincy, but don't have the nerve to…Continue
The DH took Quincy for a 4 mile walk sometime way before I felt like moving so I got to roll over (haha, I already know that trick)...and then be awakened with the bounding sound of footsteps up to our bedroom and a jump on top of me (my most favorite way to wake up - at least these days-) and then we had some play tug. Then breakfast and off to TRICKS class at the same school we took him for Puppy Kindergarten and Family Dog I. (best place on LI- message me for more info since I…Continue
It felt like Christmas morning! the first real snow storm for Quincy, and it is a doozie. We got up early and looked out the window to find about a foot of snow covering the hill-so much that the waterfall is merely a lump of snow hills.
I decided to be proactive!…
I am a proud doodle mom this morning-a great way to start the New Year. We had a house full of guests last night and Quincy behaved like the perfect little gentlemen. No jumping when our guests arrived! No begging for food treats while we had cocktails and appetizers! No stealing cookies off the lower cocktail table! He was exuberant to see so many people milling around, but settled in nicely. I swear he knows when people are saying what a good boy he is,…Continue
