Murphy, our 4 year old ALD just spent three days at the emergency vet. Sonagrams, Xrays, exploratory surgery, etc.  Long story short Murphy had two pieces of corn cob stuck in her. one in her stomach and one in the intestine just in behind the gall bladder.  All this showed on the diagnostics as what was thought to be foam or something backed up into her gall bladder.  Luckily when they opened her up the corn cob was easy to remove.  It had been in there nearly  month since last we had corn on the cob!  No signs of distress until the day we took her to emergency - projectile vomiting dinner, then small breakfast, then lots and lots of water.  She was one sick puppy!  Good news she is home resting and should be fine.  Also they think he rheumatoid arthritis has resolved itself ( another long story) and we are weaning her off leflunomide!!  Thank you for great ER vets!!  ( NOT CHEAP though - guess that should be expected).  Hoping for no more dog (or people) emergencies!!

Tigger tells his tale:  Well I took one for Murphy Monday night. She and I  found  small rattlesnake in our yard Monday night.

I pushed right past Murphy to protect her and dang if that snake didn't bite my tongue as I was sniffing him, just a friendly sniff, you know.

Then as i turned around since he clearly was not friendly he bit my back paw!  Totally uncalled for as it is my yard and i was walking away.

Here it is Wednesday and it is still hard to eat but I am feeling somewhat better.  I will let Mom tell you the rest as the part between the bite 

and now sort of all blurs together.

Both Tigger and Murphy have had multiple rattlesnake aversion trainings, quite successfully. None in the last two years because of COVID though.

Tigger was immediatley rushed to the emergency vet and our vet called them for a heads up.  Antivenom needs to administered within the first

hour to be most effective.  Tigger's tongue was enourmously swollen and that was monitored for about 16 hours as antivenom, fluids, and pain meds

were administered.  We were lucky that the vet was close and jumped right on it in the waiting room. Tigger came home Tuesday about noon and 

today (Thursday) he is better but still eating and favoring his leg with the bite. He never missed a meal though even though it took him quite awhile

to get it all in.  That's our Tigger! As of today he is doing better, but still on pain med although only 2 a day now. Expect and hope for a full recovery 

even though he is 14!

We have lived "up the hill" for 9 years now.  My dogs have gone to rattlesnake training every year we have live here, except the last two when the training was not given.

Tigger always avoided the rattlesnakes after training #2 - until last night.  Only my husband was home and he was outside with them when he noticed Murphy(4yrs) crouching and looking intently at something.  It was a baby rattlesnake and she was keeping her distance.  Tigger (14 yrs), however, had already been bitten on his tongue and back paw! Pat calls our vet who calls the nearest emergency vet and off goe Pat and Tigger about 5 miles to the emergency vet, who is expecting Tigger thanks to our vet and ready to get into motion. 

There is only about a 1 hour window for optimal use of antivenom.  Eighteen hours later and Tigger is out of the woods and can come home. He had pain meds, antivenum, and fluids, and constant airway checking as tongue, throat and airway very swollen from tongue bite.  Expensive, but so grateful to have Tigger home and walking around.

Hanna's kidney disease took its inevitable toll, and we let her go on Mar 9th.

You were our best friend, and truly always wanted to be with us.

We always said your favorite place to go was “along.”

Anytime spent outside and in the mountains hiking and camping were some of your favorites.

You were my best running buddy for a decade, and the most positive workout partner I could ever hope for.

You waited patiently in dressing rooms for me while I shopped,

And carried the bag for me when we left the store.

On days you went to work with me, you greeted everyone like they were your long lost friend.

I would walk in the door in the morning, and everyone wanted to say hi to you, not even noticing me : )

You introduced us to our neighbors, and helped us become friends.

You made us better people by reminding us to never judge, and always have a smile ready for whomever we met.

We miss you terribly, and always will.

You were our favorite hello, and our hardest goodbye.

This is Larry Rivelli writing, Ricki's husband.  Since she passed away in July of 2019, Tara and I have made some big changes.  We moved from Medford Oregon to an independent retirement facility )Country Meadows Village) in Woodburn, Oregon.  It is a pet friendly facility and Tara is right at home.  We sold our house in February of this year and are very much enjoying having someone else take care of all the essentials.  Tara is one of the darlings of the place and I have to sometimes avoid people because they all want to give her treats. LOL.  Tara will be 13 on December 7th and is still very active.  We take 3 or 4 walks a day when its not raining which we both enjoy.  I have found both a good vet and groomer close by so that is helpful too.  The vet also will board if I have any emergencies.  

I am not sure how to use all the things on this site but hopefully will start to learn. Oh, I did get my 2022 Doodle calendar yesterday and it is great.

This is the hardest Blog to post here on DK.  When Kona came into our lives she opened a whole new world of friends and doodles to Love.  If I hadn't decided on a Labradoodle after getting Buddy I can't imagine how different my life would be.  She brought so much love and so much spunk with her, she is so missed.  It feels like a chapter ending now with both Buddy and Kona gone.  But, a new chapter has started with my Baci and soon to add a second.  Thanks DK for opening the world up for Doodle people to make friends and have fun together!  I Love you Kona, go play with Buddy!!!

Hi Tigger here - I haven't posted for awhile because I had to take care of Murphy.  She felt really sore all over and would not play much at all.  She is really feeling great now and what a bossy pants!  I am bigger and smarter but I have to pretend she is in charge because she is a "girl"  and it is just not worth it to argue.  So I just stand back and let her go first and then I do what I want anyway.

She is also a suck up.  She won't leave the yard even if the gate gets left open, which hardly ever happens so she should take advantage, you know. It would be a waste of time anyway as she would just run to Mom when she discovered we had sneaked out.  Even I come after awhile.  It's fun to smell new smells, but I get tired and thirsty so I let Mom "catch" me.

She is one strange dog about the TV.  Everyone knows it is flat, does not smell, and worth no attention whatsoever. I have even seen Dad lift her up to the TV to sniff for herself.  Yet every time it makes noise she barks like it is Bear outside.  Talk about crying "Bear"!  That's a girl for you; makes no sense at all. 

Murphy does let me run interference for her sometimes at the dogpark, so she still needs me. I love to go to the dog park, but sometimes too many of the boys are ganging up on my Murphy, so I come and straighten them out.  I am more fun anyway as I know about sniffing and mounting annd back-talking.  Murphy just lays down if she gets too many around her.  Kind of weird, I think, but you know, she's a girl (eye roll).  We do have fun at the dog park though.  We can really run.  Mom says I am slowing down, HAH!!  Little does Mom know that I am just trying not to embarass Murphy by running so very very very much faster than she can.

I heard Mom telling Dad that Murphy "was in charge" now that she felt good again.  I am so proud of myself!  I did not say a thing.  Who cares who gets fed first, so long as they get fed.  Roo always ate first, jumped in the pool first, but I was the strong and steady one.  Constantly on the look out for deer, bear, ducks, interlopers ALL!! I get more food than Murphy and that is really all I care about - FOOD!!

My Hartley (F1LD) turns 13 today!!  He moves a little slower, his eyes are a little cloudier, his hearing is more selective!  But, he happily retrieves his ball and is the est big brother to my younger dog. Happy birthday to my best boy. 

my sweet cookie got her first exam today. She is 6wks 3 days old. She has 3/6 Left Systolic Heart Murmur. I have researched and I am still not sure what to think. She has has been having a rapid growth  spirt. She is a puppy from my Daughters ( Duke and Daisy ) she is still with her mother and litter mates. I will bring her home in a week. Vet said bring her back in 2 weeks, told my daughter not to sell her. These puppies are all loved. They are not being sold, but givien to family and freinds that we know will love them. Could never be a breader, want to keep them all. I’m just so worried about her, in love with her. Any experience with heart murmurs?

Nilla (like Nilla wafer) will be joining our family in just 3 weeks at 11weeks old!!!  We are so excited!  She has a Goldendoodle dad and a GR mom.  Wondering what she will look like?  Thoughts?

Hello! I just picked up my f1 goldendoodle 3 days ago, his name is teddy and he is perfect. We love him so much already. I know this is asked alot, but we are really curious what coat he will have. (Hoping for a shaggy coat and the doodle beard/furnishings) ive been researching like a crazy person about doodles so i knew what i was getting myself into. Heres some pics of my cutie. Would love anyone's opinions & comparisons. Thanks :) 

I've just binged the DoodleKisses podcasts!  I loved them all but I don't remember which one brought up the comment about how you feel about letting strangers pet your doodle   Anyway, how do you feel about it? 

My husband wants everyone to pet Picco because he's so soft.  Picco is shy around new people and I don't think he's all that comfortable with it and neither am I.   I'm not one to pet others dogs either.  I will with my friends dogs just a little to say hello.   Am I being selfish, protective, or just weird?  I'd like to hear how others feel!

Bentley didn't want me sad so he sent me Ella 10 weeks old...oh my!

i have not been on here in  years  my Rufus  passed away saturday at 9 years old he will be missed greatly as he was our first family dog he chased squrires and was such a kind hearted dog  great bread to have i am so great i had the chance to see these pictures on here  when he  was so young great memories  

Bentley has been a member of Doodlekisses since the beginning.  I haven't posted for a while.  But I wanted to share that he left us suddenly on Saturday morning.  Not sure if life will ever be the same without him... he was the best.   He was my buddy my pal and my friend..His sister Olive (black Chihuahua) is looking all over for him.  They have been together for 12 years...
