"In all honesty, I think it's important for all dog parents to learn how to "pill" a dog. You pry open their mouth, and hold it open while you place the pill as far back as you can get it. It's really not all that…"

F1 standard male, "Jackdoodle" born 11-28-2004. 80 lbs, apricot, adopted from a shelter in January 2006 at 14 months old.
From the day I brought him home, he has never had an accident, never chewed or damaged anything, never taken food from the counter, never gone in the garbage, never bothered the cat. He is absolutely phenomenal with children...a stroller coming down the street gets his tail going in circles. He sheds like crazy, and has lots of medical & psychological issues, but he is an exceptionally good boy.

My darling boy went to the Bridge on November 18, 2017, 10 days short of his 13th birthday. He will live in my heart forever.

Rest in Peace Dinah 3/17/94 - 8/5/11

Jasper is a purebred silver Miniature Poodle born 1/11/18. He came home March 24th.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Shelter
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I really did not choose, or particularly want, a doodle. But when I saw him at the shelter, I just couldn't leave him in that cage! He looked so sad.
Really cute, really sweet, he needed me and I needed him.

EVERY DOG WHO PASSES THROUGH MY LIFE LEAVES

Sheila's Birthday Poem for Jackdoodle 11-28-12

Today is the birthday of good ole' Jackdoodle.

He's such a handsome guy cause he's mixed with a poodle.

With his big brown eyes, and his cold wet nose,

his messy kind of hair, it all really goes.

He has a wiggley butt when he's a wagging that tail,

puts a smile on Karen's face every time without fail.

So on this special day, a day that's all your own,

hope your tail is a spinning and mom treats you with a bone.

Happy Birthday Jackdoodle !

HUGS !! Finnley and Sheila

Sheila's poem for JD's 10th Birthday 11-28-14
Today Jack Doodle is turning 10,

A decade to count upon, then we'll start all over again .

His big wet nose, and his long golden hair,

he's a kind, and gentle doodle, with nary a care.

Ten years of ball chasing, and long happy walks.

Only the best kibble to eat, but Jack never balks

So many cuddles, and snuggles too, with his mom, her name is Karen

she loves him through and through.

So raise a biscuit high, as we salute our good friend Jack.

The epitome of doodleness, a number one class act !

I can imagine how hard the change was.  I like that you added Jasper to Jackdoodle.  I think that was a genius way to do it.

Just noticed your name change.  Jasper is happy - it means you are stuck with him forever :-}

Dear Karen, I haven’t been on DK much in the last 10 months. After I lost my husband to a massive heart attack Last August, my life switched into a different mode. It was many months before I came to. It was just today that I saw a comment on DK that worried me. Jack is gone, over the Bridge, months ago! I’m tearing up for you right now, because I know how hard it was for you to lose him. I just wanted you to know, that like all of your followers here, that I am devastated for you. Time has passed, and it sounds like you have a puppy! May s/he give you as much joy as dear Jack. Thank you for always being there to help us through our doggie issues. Lots of love for you and yours.

My inbox is broken and I would love to pick your brain about a doodle in a shelter near me - and the possibility of fostering him. Can I email you? Thanks!

Wondering if anyone has been contacted directly by "Mr. James". He asked me to email him bc it was difficult for him to express himself on a public site. Hoping I don't have to take my profile down. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Love reading all the helpful info.

Not sure if you remember me but it's been years since I've logged on (I took a massive social media break). Anyway, I was thinking about you and wanted to say I hope you're doing well. You were always so helpful to me when I first got Goldie and you've stuck with me:)

Bummer. Wishing you luck in finding something compatible for him soon. Olive's paw seems better today already, thanks! She has stopped limping and it looks less red and raw where the vet shaved her, unnecessarily.
