"I really like to Dremel with a cordless Dremel. If you start young and treat often they get used to it and it is way to take just a bit of nail off."

nail clipping

I have a miniature three month old goldendoodle whose nails were trimmed at his 9 week vet appointment,.  They seem to be growing long again. What nail scissors do you recommend?  Also,it seems I can see the difference between the slender nail tips and the part with the vein. Is there a video I should watch to learn to trim his nails, or should I just schedule a grooming visit to get the trimmed?KateSee More

"Wellness Core is an excellent food. If I were looking for a new food for a puppy, it would be high on my list. "

"Thanks.  I have some research to do!  Our breeder had him in puppy chow so any food will be a step in the right direction!  I still have another week before I’ll start to switch him but just trying to understand the difference…"

"Also, keep in mind that you cannot judge the price of a food by the price of the bag. There are significant differences in the calories per cup of different dog foods. With lower calorie formulas, you are going to have to feed more; if you go…"

"Any formula from any of our recommended brands is a safe food, which is reliably sourced and contains no questionable or harmful ingredients.  That said, every forumla is not right for every dog. Some need higher or lower macronutrient…"

"About those chicken pure bites... they are VERY crumbly - do not put directly in your pocket, put them in a plastic bag or something first ;)  They are quite messy.  Easy to break apart into nice small pieces for training though."

"He seems much better today and has had normal poop all day.  I am guessing it was from those darn Kong treats which I threw away.  I will still mention to vet in Tuesday to make sure it isn’t anything more serious.  However he…"

"Also, just as an FYI, he must be closely supervised outdoors. I would keep him on a leash even if you have a fenced yard, to make sure he is not eating or drinking anything out there. And you'll need to pick up his poop immediately to prevent…"

Karen, Jasper and Jackdoodle replied to Kate Rich's discussion Puppy diarrhea from treats? in the group The Food Group
"Okay, so it's very, very common for doodle puppies to come home with giardia. Since giardia has a 10-14 day incubation period, and you can't have had him more than a week (I hope), you wouldn't have seen symptoms til now. This is one…"

Puppy diarrhea from treats?

my 9 week old puppy had his first boat of diarrhea tonight.  He went at least three times in an hour.  The only thing we changed today was he ate 2 puppy Kong chew treats that go in his Kong chew. I picked them up at the pet store for him this afternoon.  He really only ate one as they both broke off inside and he couldn’t get it out.  Would this cause diarrhea or should I be worried he has something else?  He goes to the vet Tuesday for his 9 week visit and has only had his first round of…See More
