"Thoughts about size: Over the years we've had tiny, mid-size and large dogs, and found each size has endearing qualities that make them the perfect choice! I do not have a favourite size, and would be tempted to take the first…"
"Max loves to go to bed, and now that he's two, he's even gone down to the bedroom without me a couple of times because I'm still busy when he thinks we should be sleeping. Since he was a puppy he's been full of vim and…"
"A friend had the same complaints about her husband and started doing a daily sweep with a plastic laundry basket and throwing in all his 'litter' that landed in odd places around the house. She'd place it next to the door out in…"
"Max, our doodle, consistently gets gas and runny stool with stale food. In the past we've had dogs with iron stomach's who could eat anything, but also have had dogs that react to any diet change at all, including treats and stale food.…"
"Hilarious holder for your filled poop bags - hope no one thinks your Santa bags are filled with treats - lol.
Me too - with empty bags in every pocket. But carrying poop bags comes in handy and have made me a hero more than once.…"
"We also tried Blue Buffalo which sounds great and has a terrific website with sound research behind it, but our Max had explosive diarrhea on it. We thought he was ill, but after testing our vet recommended changing his diet after his stomach…"
"Max was neutered at 8 months, otherwise very similar situation. He also chewed off his cone when left alone for a short time - we were shocked and pieced together the multitude of little pieces of plastic to ensure he didn't swallow any.…"
"Great idea for sofa cover, Jennifer. For storage, I found a great wooden bench with an upholstered cushion on top and a shelf underneath that fits perfectly in my tiny entry. A basket placed on the shelf underneath looks neat and…"
I've always loved animals, and am so fortunate to have had many wonderful furry family members over the years. This value was instilled in me by my parents, who also encouraged respectful relationships with animals and gratitude for the opportunity to share with them. Thankfully my partner, children, and grandchildren share the same values and we all cherish our four-legged friends.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Our lovely two-year-old, affectionate, active doodle loves other animals and all children (Max is black and 71 pounds). He's tall, and loves to rest his head on our dining room table. He's by our side most of every day, and sleeps next to our bed at night.
Our son has a twelve-year-old loving, 20 pound doodle, Molly. She's the little cream doll licking her lips in my profile photo, and was in multiple homes with a reputation of being untrainable before we adopted her at two. Of course she was a handful, but eager to please and lots of fun. She spent several years doing agility and is a very gentle yet social, little extravert. She's losing her sight and hearing, but is always happy and always ready to cuddle or rough house. Although our son lives in his own home now, Molly lived with us when our son was a young teen, and still comes to live with us frequently when our son travels with work.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Allergies - needed hypoallergenic dog. Had wonderful opportunities over the decades to adopt a variety of rescue dogs all with their own health concerns including allergies, one with diabetes, another with a seizure disorder, one with an autoimmune disorder, another 100% deaf. Hoped to have a dog without medical concerns as I'm older now with my own health issues, and wanted to know his or her whole background history. Did lots of research and decided a large 'doodle' would would fit the bill with an optimistic health future and long life, as well as possibility of a non-shedding coat.
