I'm sorry, x 3! I know we've talked about this ad nauseam, but it's time for the yearly vet visit and I just can't remember. This is the notification we got. OCCULT HEARTWORM TEST (12/09/2018) LEPTO…Continue

Maggie's new naughty!

Does anyone else have a doodle who won't come back inside from the yard because they're obsessed with the squirrel that they've tree'd? I don't know how to fix this one. Maggie knows come. We work on…Continue

Maggie with the muddy nose in the rain

Maggie here. I would like to take a public opinion poll. See, my mom says I'm really naughty. But I say that cute dogs like me can't possibly be naughty. And my mom isn't really mad either. She says…Continue

I am learning about so many new things at dog school. Is anyone familiar with a Barn Hunt title? (Is it just me who missed it?) I was speaking with the Westie lady and she was saying that last…Continue

"Yes, you're right. That's not supposed to be able to happen. Sometimes I think they forget to tell the dog that though. I guess it's like any surgery that somehow fails. And certainly I don't think it's a reason not to get…"

"Yes, they can still bloat after gastropexy, but I was told the stomach can't twist, and that's what causes fatality, the loss of blood flow to the heart and other organs. I am very, very surprised to hear that you can still have torsion…"
Stacy replied to Stacy's discussion vaccination (again)
"I really do like the vet. And it's an AAHA accredited animal hospital, so that should count for something. What we talked about with the gastropexy is that it's an insurance policy, and how much better would I sleep at night knowing that…"
Karen, Jasper and Jackdoodle replied to Stacy's discussion vaccination (again)
"This sounds very positive, and it sounds like you have found a good vet. As far as the price of the titers, you hopefully won't need to do it again, nor vaccinate until at least 2021. So that $120 spread over three years is not such a bad deal.…"

"Okay, so if they swim in the lake, they should have the lepto vaccine. The newer,"safer" one is given in two doses about a month apart. It's a good sign that it was listed spearately and not as part of the cocktail, i.e.…"

I know she was vaccinated appropriately at this time last year. My current vet is very pro Lepto. And the girls do sometimes swim in the lake. Heartworm test, obviously. Lepto... if it's the safe one. Which one is that? And do…See More

Profile Information

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Katie is my first doodle. She's a miniature f1b goldendoodle. She's a total sweetheart. I also have a 14 year old papillon named Olivia. And the latest addition is Ava. She's Katie's mom. A standard f1 goldendoodle. And the biggest love.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder, Rehome
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I love the way they look. And I love that beyond grooming they aren't physically altered in any way.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
The dog park, but not just any dog park. Our favorite is a 53 acre off leash area with hiking trails and lake access. We love to go hike and then Katie likes to swim.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major, Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Relationship Status:
Would you be willing to Dog Sit on occasion for other DoodleKisses members? (You are NOT committing to anything by saying yes - you are just saying you might be willing to do this if you were acquainted with the other member and the circumstances were right.)

The Evolution of Maggie

Posted on April 17, 2018 at 10:26am 7 Comments

Maggie’s a different dog than any I’ve known before. It’s been 9 weeks that she’s been here, and we coexist peacefully. She’s doing perfectly on her potty training when I’m home. Going to work is still a major work in progress, and I haven’t found the perfect solution, but we’re working on it.

She’s still not very affectionate. Everyone has an opinion, and I think that the truth lies somewhere within all the wisdom I’ve received. She went to see the groomer last week and she did…

the doodles scared a possom "to death"

Posted on November 28, 2016 at 5:42pm 15 Comments

I swear I do not live in the country! I live in a suburb very near the center of my town. It’s not a huge town, but it’s definitely not the country! And it’s far more developed than the subdivision I moved from a year ago – maybe that’s the problem. There was more room for the wildlife to be out in the woods. But I have seen more possums in the yard since I moved here than ever before – in fact I’m sure that I never got up close and personal with one until we moved here.  But the dogs and I…

We also found that when our Springer ate fish- based kibble, he had fewer ear problems. That is purely anecdotal.

Somehow I read your post about Katie's ears but I can't find it now to reply. LOL  Here is a suggestion that could at least give her ears some 'air time.'  Using a soft scrunchy, pull her ears up in a pony tail.  This give them some time to dry out.  Another suggestion is to have her groomer shave shorter on her head under her ears. She doesn't have to be shaved bald, just closer so that the ears also have some room to breathe.

Stacy, your Doodles are beautiful! I also have my puppy's mother. Daphne was my first Doodle and a year later, Lucy was retired from breeding and needed a forever home. We just love her to pieces!

Hi!  I saw your comment on buying bras in bulk!  lol

I am no expert, but look at how you react to the 'thief' when you find her.  What worked for us, was correcting our pup as soon as possible, with a 'NO' and putting an appropriate toy in his mouth.  We worked on the command 'drop it' as soon as possible too.  They are curious little pups, and they love a good game of chase.  It could be she just enjoys your attention when you find your bras.  We used to have a parrot, and we learned that negative attention is just as good as positive attention.

it sounds like she might test you on EVERYTHING in the house. And as they grow, they find more interesting things, but most of all, just want your entire focus, and will do things just to get your attention!!  teaching independent appropriate playtime is a chore, but well worth it.  being consistent is the key to success!!  hope it gets better
